Matt Bell has a busy winter of racing ahead of him with the news that he will compete in the 2018-19 Asian Le Mans Series. The British racer will drive a United Autosports LMP3 car, alongside Jim McGuire (US) and Kay van Berlo (NETH).
“I’m delighted to be going back to the Asian Le Mans Series as I thoroughly enjoyed racing in the 2015-16 season,” said Bell. “I can’t wait to go back to Fuji Speedway in Japan as I loved that track. I really enjoyed Buriram too so I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to go there with United Autosports.”
Bell raced a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for the FFF Racing Team in 2015-16, which was his first season in the Asian Le Mans Series. This time out he will be in the Ligier JS P3, a car that he knows well.
“I’ve really enjoyed racing the LMP3 car so far and it is great that I can continue driving with Jim (McGuire),” he said. “I also look forward to racing with Kay, who has been strong competition against us this year.”
Before commencing the Asian Le Mans Series, the three drivers will compete in the inaugural four-hour Michelin IMSA SportsCar Encore race at Sebring, Florida in November in order to prepare for the challenge ahead.
The Asian Le Mans Series gets underway on 23-25 November at Shanghai International Circuit in China.
