McLaren GT factory driver, Rob Bell, joins TF Sport, an official Aston Martin Racing Partner Team, for this year’s running of the famed Le Mans 24 Hours race, campaigning the team’s Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE with the team’s regular driver, Salih Yoluc and Euan Hankey.
Rob returns to the hallowed Le Sarthe circuit for a ninth time, chasing the dream of a Le Mans 24 win, an ambition that he has come close to achieving, but is still a challenge to conquer. Last year, the experienced driver finished fourth in class with Clearwater Racing, driving the team’s Ferrari 458 Italia.
Rob has had previous experience of the Aston Martin Vantage, having raced the model for Aston Martin Racing in 2015. TF Sport steps up to GTE-spec machinery for the first time having raced in GT3 for the last few years and after winning the inaugural Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup the team earned a coveted invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“I'm delighted to be going to Le Mans once again with the Aston Martin Vantage," said Bell. "It's one of the greatest endurance races in the world, and one that every driver wants to take part in. This will be my ninth time taking on the iconic 24-hour event and, with TF Sport and a strong driver line-up, we are in a great position going into the race. Salih and Euan had a fantastic 2016 season with TF Sport and I'm looking forward to tackling the race in June with them."
Rob’s Le Mans 24 Hours announcement comes hot on the heels of his confirmation that he will be driving in the Blancpain GT Series Asia and International GT Open. He also raced in the Bathurst 12 Hours last week. A further series is also expected to be added to his racing commitments for 2017.
