Rob Bell Confirms Third Racing Programme for 2017

14 March, 2017

McLaren GT Factory Driver, Rob Bell, will contest the 2017 Blancpain GT Series in the McLaren 650S GT3 alongside his previously announced drives with the model in the International GT Open with Balfe Motorsport and Blancpain GT Asia with Clearwater Racing. Rob will also contest the Le Mans 24 Hours race with TF Sport campaigning an Aston Martin Vantage.

Rob joins Strakka Racing for his return to the highly competitive Blancpain GT Series and will be out to defend his Endurance Champion title. All five McLaren GT Factory Drivers – Rob, Côme Ledogar, Alvaro Parente, Jonny Kane and Dean Stoneman – will provide the foundation for customer team Strakka Racing’s ambitious Blancpain GT Series Pro class drivers lineup.

Rob heads out on track tomorrow in the Official Test for the Blancpain GT Series with all four of the Strakka Racing McLaren GTs in action over the two days of testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France.

Rob says of today’s announcement, “It’s a strong line-up of drivers for Strakka Racing’s four-car assault on the Blancpain GT Series. It’s a very competitive series with all the top marques represented, so not only will there be competition within the team, there’s also a really strong grid that we’ll be up against.

“I’m obviously out to defend my Endurance Series title and with the strength of competition on the entry list, that will definitely be a big challenge.”

Rob adds, “It’s going to be a very busy year for me, which started last month in Australia at Bathurst 12 Hours. Now there’s pre-season testing before we get into the racing itself in early April. I’ll certainly be having plenty of seat time this season and will be criss-crossing the globe to take on my duties in the three series. It’s a year I’m relishing and will be out to capture not just one title, but three – and a Le Mans win too!”

The Blancpain GT Series Official Test started yesterday and concludes today, Tuesday 14th March.
