British racing driver, Alex Jones, has announced he will test for Hurricane Motorsport in the BARC Citroen C1 Challenge at Rockingham next month.
Making his tin-top debut, the 25-year-old Formula Vee regular from Radlett, is evaluating options to compete in selected rounds in the endurance series alongside his Vee commitments in 2018.
The Citroen C1 Challenge is designed to provide a low-cost method of going endurance racing. Making use of the C1 car with very limited modifications, the series offers an excellent affordable way to get out on track.
This year's calendar will feature races between 3-5 hours at Rockingham, Pembrey, Snetterton 300, Croft and Anglesey, with three 24-hour endurance races including a highlight at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
"I'm really looking forward to trying out the C1 Challenge car", enthused Jones. "Coming from a single-seater background, it will be a totally new experience - especially as I've never been on-track at Rockingham either.
"There are some quick guys coming into the series from the UK National Legends Cars Championship but this test will mainly be about getting used to the car and the environment as it's almost the polar opposite of what I'm used to with Formula Vee.
"Thank you to Adam Higgins at Hurricane Motorsport for the opportunity to test with them. I would love to compete in the 24-hour race at Spa and maybe a couple of rounds throughout the year but we will see how things develop."
Jones will have his 2018 season-opener on 2nd April in Formula Vee at Castle Combe before heading to test the C1 at Rockingham on 20th April.
