After an impressive run of results with five podium finishes in five races so far this season, Oldham's Alex Walker will be looking to continue his strong form as the InterSteps Championship heads to Rockingham, Northamptonshire for Rounds 6, 7 and 8 this weekend.
Fortec Motorsport's Walker, who currently lies 2nd in the championship with only an 8 point deficit, scored his maiden car racing win last time out at Snetterton and has come home with silverware on the other four occasions this season. However, the 16-year-old who finished his GCSEs on Monday, knows he can't get complacent and is well aware of the new challenges this weekend will bring.
"In the tests at Rockingham I've run well and it's one of my favourite circuits so I'm feeling really positive and looking forward to getting the weekend underway. The circuit is quite demanding and runs in an anti-clockwise direction so there's a bit more strain on the neck, but we've worked on this in my training programme so I'm sure it won't be a problem.
"Now I've finished my exams I can focus entirely on my racing and I've been working as hard as possible on all areas out of the car so I'm fully prepared from the moment I step in it.
"I'm feeling good ahead of the weekend and I think we should be able to bring home some good results - it won't be easy but we're in a good position to get another win. It would be the perfect scenario if we can come away from Rockingham with the championship lead - we just have to work hard and pick up as many points possible."
