Glynn Geddie enjoyed a successful one-off outing as he made his debut in the Competition Car Insurance Ford Fiesta Championship at Silverstone this weekend. Having lead both races early on, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB regular finished in 4th and 2nd places respectively.
Starting 3rd on the 22-car grid for Race 1, Geddie had the lead on the first lap and held position for the first 3 laps before being back-ended as the lead pack came on to the National Straight. He lost three places in the process but brought the car home to complete the 20 minute race with 4th place.
In Race 2 Geddie started 4th on the grid and made a superb start as he grabbed the lead by the first corner. Holding the lead for the first part of the race the Apex Tubulars-backed 20 year-old dropped to second position but kept up with eventual winner David Grady all the way to the flag.
"It's been a good weekend and I'm happy to have given the team a podium. Of course it would have been nice to go one better - I think we were on for the win in Race 1 if we hadn't been tagged. In Race 2 there was no way of getting past the leader as he seemed to have more speed on the straights.
"However the Kempster Ford team have done a fantastic and very professional job in preparing the car all weekend so I would like to say thank you for the opportunity of working with them, and wish them the best for the remainder of the season."
Geddie is set to announce further developments on his racing plans this week.
