Scottish racing driver Glynn Geddie added to his Pro-Am 1 chances this weekend by picking up more points at a sunny Thruxton, Hampshire with 3rd (8th overall) and 5th (13th overall) place finishes.
Race 1 saw the Apex Tubulars, number 8 car, line up 12th on grid where, once the lights went out, Geddie immediately moved up to 10th and was enjoying a scrap with fellow Pro-Am 1 competitor Tony Gilham for a number of laps.
The pair caught up with the next set of cars to form a six-car battle and managed to pick up another place after getting past Team Parker Racing team mate Tom Bradshaw to eventually take 8th place overall, and 3rd in the Pro-Am 1 category, along with fastest lap.
For Race 2, Aberdeen's Geddie was again on row 6 to take the 11th grid slot. After shining in the first part of the race with a great drive to muscle his way up to 8th, the tyre problems which had shadowed his performance all weekend came back to haunt him and the 18 year-old dropped back in the last 10 minutes, having to settle for 13th as the chequered flag dropped.
"We knew it would be difficult this weekend as this is the first time I've raced at Thruxton but we came here with the intention of scoring more points so, in that sense, it's job done. However I'm disappointed and frustrated that we couldn't get the tyres to work in the way we wanted - if Race 2 had gone on a lap longer, one of my rear tyres would have had a blow-out for sure. Hopefully Donington (in three weeks time) will let us display more of our true pace."
Stuart Parker (principle of Team Parker Racing):
"This is a very quick circuit so the tyres take more of a pounding than they do with some of the other tracks we visit. The whole team was struggling with tyre pressures all weekend, so it wasn't the greatest we've had to be honest."
Geddie now focuses his attention on the GT Cup meeting on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit next weekend. The race will support the A1 GP's - also known as the World Cup of Motorsport - where he will once again campaign the Team Parker Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
