Aberdeen Assassin Lee McAllister has a secret weapon in his corner as he gears up for his IBO Light-Welterweight title fight with Itsvan Nagy.
McAllister is being driven on to success by Granite City racing driver Glynn Geddie who is backing him to return to the ring with a bang.
The pair are both sponsored by Apex Tubulars and Geddie reckons his stablemate will come out on top against the Hungarian. McAllister has not fought since he successfully defended his Commonwealth lightweight title against Sam Amoako in January following a year of injury hell.
"I've known Lee for years and it's great to see him back in the ring after such a long period out. We've even sparred in the ring together in the past and I'll be really rooting for him at the weekend.
"I usually manage to get along to his fights but a prior engagement means I won't be at this one unfortunately.
"Lee has been training hard in recent weeks and will be in good shape for the fight and I'm convinced he'll come out on top this weekend.
"When we sparred in the ring in the past I did try to give him a few tips, but I doubt whether he'll be following – or need - my advice, so I had better stick to racing!"
McAllister is relishing a return to the ring for his showdown with Nagy.
"I can't wait to get back into action. Being out injured for so long has been very frustrating.
"I'm very appreciative of Glynn's support and let's hope we can both enjoy a successful 2011."
