Oldham teenager, Alex Walker, is hopeful of making a return to racing later this year in the Renault UK Clio Cup for the final two meetings of the season.
The 18-year-old finished a close 2nd to 2012 McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year, Jake Dennis, in the InterSteps Championship in 2011 before financial constraints forced him to take a backseat at the end of the year.
However Walker is determined to secure funding to compete in the final four races of the Renault UK Clio Cup season, running in support of the MSA British Touring Car Championship, at Rockingham and Brands Hatch GP.
"We're still working as hard as we can to find sponsors but I'm fully committed to making it happen.
"It's been a long and painful wait out of the car but I've been focusing and keeping myself fit so I'm on top form should the opportunity arise.
"With the extensive live TV coverage from ITV4, the Renault UK Clio Cup is continuously becoming more popular and is a very attractive prospect for both driver and sponsor.
"If we can get just on the grid it will be the perfect opportunity to prove myself as we seek partners to join us for a full-time return in 2014."
Rockingham will play host to Rounds 13 and 14 of the Renault UK Clio Cup on 14-15 September with the season finale on the Brands Hatch GP circuit on 12-13 October.
