Podium for United Autosports in Dutch Supercar Challenge at Zolder

23 April, 2013

Jim and Glynn Geddie have had a great start to their Dutch Supercar Challenge campaign with two poles, a podium finish and a fastest lap at the first race weekend at Zolder, Belgium.

Glynn put the McLaren MP4-12C on pole with a lap time of 1.31.726, beating his rivals to the front row of the grid. He said after qualifying: “I'm really pleased I managed to put the car on pole. It went right down to the last lap so it was a close thing. The team have worked really well on the car to get us to that position.”

The 2013 specification McLaren ran faultlessly throughout the whole weekend, landing the pair a third place podium finish in race one and a hard fought sixth place in race two. Race two also saw Glynn put in a fastest lap with a time of 1.32.555 on lap 27 of the hour-long race, giving the team an extra point to add to their total for the weekend.

Unfortunately a right front puncture in the second race meant that Glynn lost time coming into the pits for a tyre change, dropping him back to seventh. He gained one place to finish in sixth and closed the race lapping faster than all the other cars in front of him.

Jim Geddie, Driver, United Autosports
“Overall we have had a really good weekend for our first race at Zolder. We have come away with some strong points, it’s just a shame that the puncture Glynn suffered in race two meant we couldn’t finish higher than sixth. Great job by all the team and we are really looking forward to the next race in Slovakia”.

“For our first weekend running in the Dutch Supercar Challenge we have done really well. A podium yesterday and sixth today, plus a fastest lap means a good start to the series. I’m looking forward to getting back in the car in Slovakia now”.

Richard Dean, Managing Director & Co-Owner of United Autosports
“We have had a great start to the Dutch Supercar Challenge with Jim and Glynn. We managed to get the car on pole for both races, then to finish race one on the podium and to get a fastest lap in race two is a great result for the first weekend. The whole team did a fantastic job making sure the car was where we wanted it to be, it was just a shame the puncture caused us to lose time in race two. We are looking forward to seeing what we can do at the next round in Slovakia four weeks from now.”
