Oldham racing driver Alex Walker will make his car racing debut as the covers come off the 2011 InterSteps Championship at Silverstone, Northamptonshire this weekend.
16-year-old Walker makes the graduation from karting, having become ABKC National KF2 Vice Champion last year, and will be out to learn all he can as he relishes the opportunity to begin his car racing career on Silverstone's Grand Prix circuit on Saturday.
Pre-season testing, although limited due to school commitments, has been a productive learning curve and Walker has impressed his Fortec Motorsport team principle Richard Dutton in the preparations for this weekend's double-header.
"It's going to be a fantastic experience to race on Silverstone's GP circuit and I can't wait to step into the car for qualifying on Saturday. We haven't had as much testing as we would have liked, especially with my school schedule being as busy as it is, but hopefully we should be strong.
"There's going to be a lot to learn and of course I'm a bit nervous in the build up to the weekend, but there's a lot of experience I can draw on from the people around me within the team - I'm very excited to get the weekend started!"
