The Geddies Finish Third to Claim Vital Championship Points
Monday 20th June 2011
Aberdeen's Glynn Geddie produced a late charge to claim third spot in round four of the British GT Championship at Brands Hatch.
The British Racing Drivers' Club Rising Star, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday, again joined forces with his dad Jim in their CRS Racing Ferrari 458.
The father and son pairing started the race in second place following a strong qualifying session and despite slipping down a position they remain satisfied with their work at the weekend.
The result takes them to within just seven points of championship leaders Michael Guasch and Matt Bell.
Geddie junior said: "Without producing anything too spectacular we were solid throughout the race and have made up ground on the leaders which is the most important thing.
"To claim a podium finish and third spot is relatively pleasing and gives us a real strong platform to build on in the future rounds.
"We're now right in the mix in terms of the overall championship which is encouraging.
"I managed to push through the field in one lap to jump two places into third in the final stages of the race which could prove to be crucial in the long run."
Glynn, who now heads for the Nurburgring in Germany where he'll again mentor George Brewster in the Porsche Carrera Cup, revealed they were hit by tyre selection issues at Brands.
He added: "The weather kept changing throughout the weekend and we started on slicks but the track was still wet so we needed to change quickly.
"It was always going to be tough to call it right but we made the tyre change quickly which was the sensible choice and were soon back in the hunt.
"We've got a bit of a break before the next race so again we can analyse our performance and prepare further for the next test."
The Geddie duo head to Spa in Belgium at the start of next month aiming to seal their first victory of the 2011 campaign.
