Aberdeen's Glynn Geddie has been awarded the title of 'Aberdeeen's Champion'.
The annual award, run by local newspaper Evening Express, gives its readers the chance to nominate and vote for their local heroes throughout six categories.
BRDC Rising Star Geddie was honoured for his efforts from the sports category, but unfortunately was unable to attend Saturday night's awards ceremony, due to racing commitments in the British GT Championship at Donington Park, where he secured 2nd place in the championship. The award was presented by Aberdeen F.C. legend Joe Harper, and accepted on Geddie's behalf by close friend Nicholas Gall.
Gall said, "I know he (Geddie) will be over the moon with this award. I don't think he was expecting to win it at all. Unfortunately, he is busy racing away and could not be present at the awards.
"He is extremely talented at what he does and loves every minute of it. I am really proud of him and know he will be delighted."
"It's overwhelming to have won the 2010 Aberdeen's Champion award, as I am well aware of the achievements of those people who were also nominated.
"I have to say a huge thank you to the Evening Express, and everyone who has shown their much welcomed, and appreciated, support by voting for me, and I'm very proud to have been nominated in the first place. I hope to achieve a lot more in motorsport, and will always be proud of the city I come from."
