United Autosports Looking to Bounce Back in Norfolk
Thursday 13th June 2013
United Autosports head to Snetterton in Norfolk for the fourth round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this weekend (15/16 June).
With the announcement that Mark Blundell has stepped down, United Autosports test and reserve driver Glynn Geddie has been confirmed as his replacement.
Glynn, currently competing in the European Supercar Championship with his father Jim, are leading the championship after a dominant weekend at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium that saw them secure two strong podium finishes in the United Autosports prepared McLaren MP4-12C GT3.
Heading the United Autosports British GT challenge is Mark Patterson and Matt Bell in the Audi R8 LMS ultra. The duo is currently lying in third in the championship standings, having finished on the podium in two of the three events so far, and are confident of closing down the points gap at Snetterton.
Ahead of the two, one-hour races, the team has stripped and rebuilt the cars at the United Autosports team base in Leeds. They have also conducted a positive one-day test at Snetterton where they had the opportunity to refine and work through various settings to prepare themselves for the upcoming race weekend.
With 30 plus cars expected to take to the grid the competition on the 300 configuration, which has a demanding infield section and long straights, will be fierce.
Richard Dean. Team Owner and Managing Director of United Autosports
“With the news from Mark Blundell that he was standing down from the BGT, we immediately drafted Glynn in to that seat and I am sure he will do a great job. We have also worked hard to upgrade that car to the 2013 specification for this weekend at Snetterton for Jody and Glynn. The Audi pairing of Matt and Mark continues to work well and they have been on the pace and in the hunt for the championship from day one. Snetterton has been kind to the team in the last two seasons, having won here both times, so we arrive into Norfolk aiming for a hat trick!”
