British 750MC Formula Vee racer, Alex Jones, will make his 'slicks and wings' debut this week as he steps up to testing the 2016 BRDC Formula 4 car with championship front-runners, Chris Dittman Racing.
The Radlett-based 22-year old, who finished in the top 10 during his latest Formula Vee outing at Snetterton, will take to the track at Donington Park on Thursday as he looks to evaluate options for the 2016 season.
The BRDC Formula 4 Championship is one of the leading single-seater series' in the UK with a 24-race calendar across eight events at venues including Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park. All rounds are broadcast free-to-air with an hour-long standalone TV show screened one week after each of the eight events in a prime-time Sunday evening slot on ITV4 and ITV4 HD.
"I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the BRDC Formula 4 this week. It'll be my first time with slicks and wings so the first part of our program will be about getting comfortable in the car and getting used to the aero. I've learnt a lot in Formula Vee over the past couple of seasons which I'll be taking over and developing with the F4 as I look to further my racing.
"I've followed BRDC F4 very closely this season and my ultimate goal is to be in the championship next year. It all rests on whether we can get the correct backing and put the right package together.
"Chris Dittman is very experienced and knows what it takes to win, so his outfit is definitely the right one to be with. I'm really looking forward to working with the team and seeing what I can learn and do my best."
