Trying Times for Geddie at Oulton Park
Monday 11th June 2012
Aberdeen's Glynn Geddie was today left wondering when his luck will change in this year's Porsche Carrera Cup.
Geddie was taking part in rounds seven and eight at Oulton Park but a damaged car left him with a weekend to forget.
The Redline Racer had enjoyed a podium finish in the last round at Thruxton and qualifying results of sixth and fifth put him in a good position to make an impact going into the races on Sunday.
Geddie stared positively in round seven by moving up to fifth early in the first lap.
But things took a turn for the worst when a collision in lap two saw Geddie's Porsche career off the track and causr damage to his splitter.
That forced Geddie into a pit stop to repair the damage and left him trailing back in 16th place for the remainder of the race.
Geddie had looked to bounce back in round eight but it soon became apparent the earlier damage was causing real problems and his race ended with a burst radiator in lap seven.
The reigning British GT Champion was disappointed he couldn't capitalise on a positive start to the weekend and is hoping his run of bad fortune will end soon.
"It was another trying weekend, given the fact I thought I was driving well in qualifying," he said.
"I feel a bit aggrieved that luck isn't going my way and it was frustrating not being able to keep the car on the track.
"I will need to put this weekend behind me now and invest a lot of time and hard work to get things right at Croft in a fortnight".
