2015 KFJ World Champion Logan Sargeant has kicked off 2016 in the best possible fashion with a victory in the inaugural OK WSK Champions Cup Final at the Adria Karting Raceway in Italy.
Sargeant’s success was his second in the WSK Champions Cup, following on from last year’s lights-to-flag victory in the KF Junior category.
Starting the 20-lap final from third after finishing second in his pre-final, 16 year-old Sargeant, who is part of the Infinity Sports Management driver stable, made an excellent start to take second on the opening lap and immediately set about harassing race leader Christian Lundgaard.
Showing an excellent ability for racing in the slippery conditions against four past & present World Champions, it didn’t take the American long to hit the front.
Following a few laps of pressure, Logan made his move to the top on lap three and gradually began to pull away from the field. Keeping a cool head, making no mistakes, he managed a steady gap back to 2015 KF World Champion Karol Basz for the remaining seventeen laps of the race, crossing the line victorious with an eventual winning margin of three seconds.
Sargeant’s next outing will be on on the 20th/21st February for the Winter Cup in Lonato, where he will once again race with British team Ricky Flynn Motorsport.
