Matt Bell will race a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 car in the Blancpain Endurance Series this year, alongside Charles Bateman and Humaid Al Masaood, after signing up with the JRM Racing squad. This signing is in addition to Matt’s challenge for the British GT Championship title in the United Autosports Audi and creates a busy year for the young professional racer from Newcastle.
Matt will take the lead in JRM’s chase for Pro-Am glory in the popular ‘Blancpain’ series, made up of three-hour races at Monza, Silverstone and Paul Ricard; a 1000km, six-hour race at the Nürburgring and the ever-challenging Spa 24 Hour race in July. After winning races in the British GT Championship last year Matt now has the opportunity to measure his pace against JRM’s ‘Pro’ entry, which includes sportscar veterans Peter Dumbreck and Lucas Luhr.
“I am thrilled to be part of JRM's Blancpain programme this year,” commented Matt. “I was a spectator for many of their GT1 races so I know they are a top class team and they have a World Championship crown to prove it! I got on very well with Charles last year too and as a pairing we were very quick so I'm looking forward to going racing with a co-driver I know and trust and also getting to know Humaid who I have heard many good things about. There's no reason why we can't challenge for the top spot in Pro-Am this year and I’m looking forward to see how we compare on pace with the Pro car. The upgraded Nissan GT-R looks very good. I can't wait for my first run at Paul Ricard next week!”
As Matt says, he will get his hands on the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 for the first time next week at Paul Ricard in the south of France. The Blancpain Endurance Series gets underway in just over a month’s time at Monza on 14 April.
