Scottish race ace Glynn Geddie was presented with the 'Most Improved Driver of the Year' Award at the annual Porsche Carrera Cup GB awards dinner last weekend. The evening, held at the picturesque Forest of Arden Hotel in Birmingham, was a chance for those involved in the championship to look back on a season of intense racing, which was inevitably decided in the finale at Brands Hatch at the beginning of October.
Pro-Am 1 Champion, Geddie, also took the stand to collect his title, along with the keys to his new road-going Porsche 911 Carrera - a prize for his success - which he now has use of for a year.
A delighted Geddie commented, "The prizes and awards I have received tonight really put the icing on the cake after what has been a hard-fought and thoroughly enjoyable season. In the first half, consistency was an issue - even though we demonstrated that the pace was clearly there - and our results were a bit up and down. However, we worked very hard together during the summer break and bounced back with a double win when the season resumed, winning eight out of the ten remaining races.
"If you have a bad race or race weekend and don't learn something from it, you may as well have not even bothered to turn up in the first place. I have to say I have come away from 2009 as a more complete driver than when the season started, with an even stronger desire and need to succeed. Next year will be tough, but we will be out to start from where we left off; mixing it right at the front and fighting for overall podium places."
