Aberdeen racing driver Glynn Geddie will get his FIA GT3 European season under way in Portugal this weekend as the championship makes its first mark on the 2011 racing calendar with a double-header at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
The BRDC Rising Star makes his championship debut and, with co-driver Dan Brown, will pilot one of two Ferrari 458 Italia's entered by former FIA GT2 Champions AF Corse.
Both Geddie and Brown have previously made an impact in the British GT Championship, with the former finishing 2nd to Trackspeed co-driver David Ashburn in his debut season last year, and are ready make the big step up to the European sister series.
The Scot got behind the wheel of the AF Corse Ferrari last Friday at Navarra, Spain and was more than happy with the progress they are making with the car.
"I'm really looking forward to going out there and seeing what we can do this weekend. Testing went really well last week and I quickly settled into the team and got to grips with the new car, which is just mega to drive.
"AF Corse are well-known for their excellence throughout the GT world and we completed a thorough programme at Navarra so we are well prepared for what lies ahead this weekend.
"It will be tough and there will be a lot to learn as I haven't been to the circuit before, and we will be up against a lot of guys with experience, but I'm confident that we will have a good weekend."
