Glynn Geddie has announced he is to race in the remainder of this year's British GT Championship with frontrunners Trackspeed. The BRDC Rising Star will run his campaign in tandem with his Porsche Carrera Cup GB commitments where he lies 5th in the drivers' standings.
Having competed in Rounds 3 & 4 of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship with Trackspeed at Knockhill at the beginning of May, Apex Tubulars-backed Geddie and team manager/driver David Ashburn finished in 3rd place, but unfortunately had to retire the Porsche 911 GT3-R in Race 2 while fighting for the lead.
Currently Ashburn lies 2nd in the GT3 standings after a strong display at the opening two races of the season at Oulton Park where he notched up a podium. Now teaming up full time with Aberdeen's Geddie from the next race at Rockingham onwards, the pair are well in contention and intend to be a force to be reckoned with.
"I'm very excited to be racing the rest of the British GT season with David and the Trackspeed team. We had a very positive and promising weekend at Knockhill a couple of months ago and I'm more than confident that we have all the ingredients to give the team their first win this season.
"Although I already have experience of endurance racing in things like Britcar and the GT Cup, it will be nice to mix it up with the sprint races of the Carrera Cup this year. British GT has always been an appealing championship for me and something I've always looked at, so this presents me with the best opportunity to gain more experience and fight for race wins."
The next double-header at Rockingham will take place on 17-18 July before visiting Silverstone, Snetterton, Brands Hatch GP and Donington before the year is out.
