McLaren GT factory driver, Rob Bell, has added another racing series to his 2015 calendar. He will be competing in the Blancpain Sprint Series, driving with fellow McLaren GT factory driver, Kevin Estre, in a McLaren 650S GT3 for the German Attempto Racing team.
The seven round series will dovetail with Rob’s previously announced racing commitments. He drives with Von Ryan Racing in the Blancpain Endurance Series, campaigning the McLaren 650S GT3 and will be making his seventh Le Mans 24 Hours appearance with Aston Martin Racing, racing one of the team’s Vantage GTE models.
In addition to Rob’s busy racing schedule he will also be coaching Ross Wylie and Andrew Watson, two young drivers selected by McLaren GT for the McLaren GT Young Driver Programme. The Lancashire driver will be mentoring the young racing talents and will be trackside to support and assist them throughout the season.
Rob says of his 2015 programme, “I have a packed schedule ahead of me, with plenty of racing, which is great. My first love is being behind the wheel of a competitive race car and I will have plenty of time there this season. I’m racing alongside some of the best drivers on the grid, so I’m hoping we’ll be standing on the podium regularly throughout the year.
“It will be a whistle stop tour of Europe, plus Russia and Azerbaijan, with my racing commitments, which brings me to familiar territory for most of the events, although there are a couple of circuits which I haven’t visited, which always adds to the challenge. Being part of the McLaren GT family I am heavily involved with the development of the car, so it is great to be able to take this further and be on the grid, putting all the hard work behind the scenes on to the race track.”
The season kicks off this weekend with the first round of the Blancpain Sprint Series which will be at Nogaro Circuit in France.
