In recognition of his title-winning 2009 season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Aberdeen's Glynn Geddie is one of a handful of drivers selected to become a BRDC Rising Star.
The prestigious award scheme sees carefully selected talent, aged 24 and under, scouted by a panel from the trackside, being invited to become, effectively, junior members of the Silverstone-based British Racing Drivers' Club. The program has a proven track record for selecting the finest racers, and is part of their youth policy to preserve the future of the sport.
Reigning Pro-Am 1 Champion Geddie will sport the Rising Stars logo throughout the 2010 season and beyond, and it gives the 19 year-old a solid platform to graduate to full BRDC membership as his career progresses.
"I would like to thank the BRDC for giving me this fantastic opportunity and I can't wait to race with the Rising Stars logo", said Geddie. "To have my achievements recognised by the BRDC with Rising Stars membership is an achievement in itself as I am one of only fifteen to be invited this year.
"Some of the names that have been honoured in previous years by the BRDC Rising Stars scheme include the likes of Lewis Hamilton so it's a massive boost for my career to have my name added to the same list."
Apex Tubulars-backed Geddie dominated the Pro-Am 1 category last year and accumulated an impressive 50% win record on his way to the title, in what was only his first full season of racing. After claiming overall podiums at Silverstone and Knockhill, Geddie wants to maintain his form as he prepares to launch an attack on the overall championship for 2010.
The season kicks off at Thruxton, Hampshire on 4th April and will once again run in support of the MSA British Touring Car Championship.
